# Project Charter

## Project Name

**AstraCloud Developer Platform: Zero-Cost Multi-Cloud Internal Developer Platform**

## Mission

Build a professional, enterprise-style internal developer platform that runs primarily on a home-server K3s cluster and can recover or deploy workloads to AWS, Azure, and GCP using temporary, cost-controlled infrastructure.

## Main Outcome

A self-service developer platform where a user can create, deploy, secure, monitor, and recover cloud-native applications.

## Target User

A developer or platform engineer who wants to create a new service without manually writing all infrastructure, CI/CD, monitoring, and security files.

## Success Criteria

The project is successful when we can demonstrate:

1. Creating a new service from Backstage.
2. Automatic GitHub repository/template generation.
3. CI/CD pipeline running tests and scans.
4. Docker image pushed to Harbor.
5. Argo CD deploying the app to K3s.
6. Grafana showing metrics.
7. Loki showing logs.
8. Kyverno blocking unsafe Kubernetes manifests.
9. Velero/Longhorn restoring a backup.
10. AWS/Azure/GCP temporary DR environment creation and destruction.

## Non-Goals

- Running expensive managed Kubernetes clusters 24/7.
- Building a production system for real customers.
- Storing real sensitive user data.
- Using cloud resources without budget alerts and destroy workflows.

## Cost Strategy

The home server is the primary always-on environment. AWS, Azure, and GCP are used only for temporary tests and disaster recovery demos.
