# Cost Control Plan

## Main Principle

Home server is always-on. Cloud environments are temporary.

## Cloud Usage Pattern

## Rules

1. Do not leave AWS/Azure/GCP test infrastructure running overnight.
2. Use small VM sizes only.
3. Add budget alerts in all clouds.
4. Prefer VM-based K3s over expensive managed clusters for labs.
5. Use Terraform destroy workflows.
6. Add tags to every resource.
7. Keep a cost log in docs.

## Future Cost Gate

Use Infracost later to block pull requests if estimated cost is above a threshold.
